For Your Eyes Only is a simpler Bond than Moonraker, one that Brother J and Drew did not like but Eric found refreshing.
The audio on this is a little wonky (but perfectly listenable) – Brother J’s new office is a bit echoey and for some reason Drew’s audio has an occasional “skip” in it.
Also Eric refers to Jack White as Jack Black and no one catches it.

(What’s the Story) Morning Glory is a great album by Oasis. Drift back to 1996 and relive the magic, the majesty, the wonder that is Oasis.
We also talk about Travis, Robbie Williams, Cornershop, BT, Blur, The Kinks, and a heaping helping of musical goodness. And warning to our UK listeners. We get all of the history wrong and, especially toward the end, Eric defiles the Queen’s English. Sorry, mates.

Signs is a scary little movie. It has some plot holes to be sure but it holds up as a horror/sci-fi Hitchcockian thriller. Ignore the jerk director and enjoy it for what it is.
Warning: At 37:54 Eric tries to drop some knowledge about the movie. After hearing this, Brother J decides that the dropped knowledge doesn’t help the plot holes and actually hurts the watching experience. So there’s that.
You’ll also hear the sounds of hell and the sounds of dying cosmonauts (all tricks, no one was harmed in the making of these recordings – as far as we know) Housekeeping starts at 1:01:45, you’ll hear some train stories.

2010: The Year We Make Contact is definitely no 2001: A Space Odyssey… Right!
Which is a good thing, although Brother J and Eric still differ in opinions about the Kubrick classic.
First we discuss USA politics because it’s scarier than any horror movie and then we do some introspection about the flow of our podcasts lately.
This is the second of three in a row without Brother Drew who returns in two weeks for the Signs episode for Halloween.

Young Frankenstein is all of the atmosphere of Universal horror of the 30s and all of the schticky fun of Mel Brooks. Eric and Jason talk a lot about Gene Wilder, Marty Feldman, and Herve Villechaize. Eric confuses hilarious Canadian Graham Clark with Python’s Graham Chapman. They also talk about Black Christmas (1974) , Jaws, Phantasm , Arachnophobia , and Damnation Alley . Jason talks about the Oregon coast and Christopher Lee. Then at 36:30, we time travel to September of 2015 and some housekeeping Drew had about Mr. Robot and Misophonia.

DeMille (1881 – 1959), the famous Hollywood film director and producer, is the subject of many legends. According to one famous story, DeMille once directed a film that required a huge, expensive battle scene. Filming on location in a California valley, the director set up multiple cameras to capture the action from every angle. It was a sequence that could only be done once. When DeMille yelled “Action!,” thousands of extras playing soldiers stormed across the field, firing their guns. Riders on horseback galloped over the hills. Cannons fired, pyrotechnic explosives were blown up, and battle towers loaded with soldiers came toppling down. The whole sequence went off perfectly. At the end of the scene, DeMille yelled “Cut!” He was then informed, to his horror, that three of the four cameras recording the battle sequence had failed. In Camera #1, the film had broken. Camera #2 had missed shooting the sequence when a dirt clod was kicked into the lens by a horse’s hoof. Camera #3 had been destroyed when a battle tower had fallen on it. DeMille was at his wit’s end when he suddenly remembered that he still had Camera #4, which he had placed along with a cameraman on a nearby hill to get a long shot of the battle sequence. DeMille grabbed his megaphone and called up to the cameraman, “Did you get all that?” The cameraman on the hill waved and shouted back, “Ready when you are, C.B.!”. from https://paulatohlinecalhoun1951.wordpress.com/2011/10/15/ready-when-you-are-c-b/

Road House is a fun movie, unabashed about what it is. First we revisit the band Trio and briefly discuss VW and the EPA. Road House talk starts about minute 7. During Road House talk the tangents go from the Expendables, Road House 2: Last Call, being SWATed, Compliance, Eddie Lawrence and The Old Philosopher (whom Eric calls the “Old Prospector”), the 12 Monkeys television show, the OODA loop, and Dr Dean Edell. Along with the usual feature The Six Degress of 2001 there is a new feature: Just Me or Heredity? Today’s ailment is a statin reaction… or is it? Idiocracy is probably a better idea than it is a movie. Listen to all 3 Anderbros discuss this film and tangent off into all sorts of other things. Idiocracy talk runs from 15:00 to about 40:00. Afterward they discuss developing signature segments and then we hear from Mother Anderson. After that is some housekeeping which would usually have been edited out but it might be interesting to some to pull back the curtain somewhat. Oh and it devolves into tales of dentistry so fair warning there. 2001’s Heist is a David Mamet film starring Gene Hackman. Nothing more needs to be said. Go see it then listen to Drew and Eric gush over it. Eric and Drew then discuss their mother’s influence over the film genres they love, Drew recounts an in-law story about teachable moments, and they talk about escape rooms. BONUS: Starting at 44:25 we have a long-ago recorded conversation between Brother J and Travis about the movie Ghost Writer after having listened to Drew and Eric discuss the film.
