So I Married an Axe Murderer is not a great movie but it contains a few good songs and brings Brother J and Eric back in time musically at least. We spend approximately 42 minutes talking about the movie. Then we spend the next 70 minutes discussing music starting with the fantastic alternative music sampler album Stanley, Son of Theodore then branching outward to all sorts of music including: POE, Geri Halliwell, Joshua Path, Pearl Jam, Nirvana, Tori Amos, Morrissey, Henry Rollins, Frisbie, Nelly, and much more. Then we sing the praises of mix tapes, mix CDs, and discovering music with your friends. Good Stuff. The 2007 film The Kingdom starring Jamie Foxx, Chris Cooper, Jennifer Garner, Jason Bateman, and introducing us to the wonderful Ashraf Barhom is two movies in one. You should definitely see it before listening to Drew and Eric gush about it. First the housekeeping includes tales of having Brother J working at a theater and all the benefits afforded to his friends and family. Then we discuss The Pope Must Diet, Ultraviolet, Dave Anthony, and we spoil Taking Lives. The Kingdom talk starts at 18:42. We take a long sidetrack in the middle to discuss death on film sets and how dying for ones art is different from dying as the result of the negligence of ones boss. Brother J and Eric discuss the fantastic film Capote starring Phillip Seymour Hoffman. Along the way we dance around the Death Penalty, reflect upon the difference between being forced to watch or read great works of art and choosing to do so, and discuss Audrey Hepburn, Jennifer Love Hewitt, Angelina Jolie, Jon Voight, and Val Kilmer. Then we have listener feedback from T in Minnesota who accuses us, correctly as it turns out, of being somewhat Clue-less. We end with a message of gratitude and hope, but not in a creepy way.
