The Dark Crystal is one of Drew’s favorite movies. It’s also quite scary for a kids movie when you view it through modern eyes.

David Lynch’s (or Alan Smithee’s) Dune is a sprawling mess. We all agree it tries to pack too much into a three hour movie, yet Jason love it for pure nostalgia and cheese. Primarily Jason tries to explain the Dune universe to his befuddled bros.

Heathers was a rough one for the bros as it is not a movie made for men in their 40’s. Pump Up the Volume was a fun blast from the past. Former guest and fan-favorite Di contributes to the Heathers discussion while super-fan Dougie contributes to the Pump Up the Volume discussion.

War for The Planet of the Apes was not the movie we thought we wanted but was arguably the movie we needed to end our nine movie POTA arc. All in all the last three movies (Rise, Dawn, and War) are perhaps the best trilogy we’ve seen. Change our minds!!

Along the way the brothers discuss Jim Rockford, Philip Marlowe, The Ghost Writer, Magnum P.I., other reboots, Blade Runner, LA Confidential, The Big Sick, the first two Fifty Shades movies, the audiobook Artemis, the audiobook Dead People Suck, the art and hassle of editing audio.

Primal Fear is chock full of good acting by good actors and we all like it enough as a courtroom thriller that *we don’t spoil the ending* - so see it. It’s fun. It’s also a great companion piece to The Exorcism of Emily Rose, also starring Laura Linney as an attorney in a trial involving the Catholic Church.

We including extra housekeeping tonight and discussed The Order, A Knight’s Tale, Coco, Letterboxd, Bug, Big Trouble In Little China, The Polar Express, sledding, the Tile, extra car keys, The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel, A Wrinkle in Time, workplace frights, Tom Cruise in The Mummy, Channel Zero: Candle Cove, Dave Shumka, the lunacy of hunting rodents, the pros and cons of revealing ones true self at work, Slate Plus, conspiracy thriller movies, Lovecraft, Laurie Kilmartin’s book “Dead People Suck,” The Cloverfield Paradox, Black Mirror, Ben’s Vortex, the Winter Olympics, The Crash Reel, Shaun White, televised darts competitions, and the Assassination of Gianni Versace.
